Privacy Policy

Last updated 15 September 2026

Discretion is one of the three things we promise, and a privacy policy is simply that promise written down. This page explains what we collect, why, and the limits we place on ourselves. It applies to this website and to enquiries made through it.

What we collect

Information you give us

When you contact us about a vehicle, you decide what to share. In practice an enquiry usually includes some combination of the following:

  • Your name and the contact details you write to us from.
  • Vehicle information — year, make, model, trim, mileage, VIN, and condition.
  • Circumstance — the loss, claim, repair, dispute, or transaction at hand.
  • Supporting material you choose to send, such as photographs, repair estimates and invoices, service records, correspondence with an insurer, or claim numbers.

We ask for what a matter requires and nothing beyond it. You are never obliged to send a document simply because it exists.

Information collected automatically

This website sets no cookies of its own. It runs no advertising pixels, no cross-site trackers, and no behavioural profiling. Pages are static and are delivered without attempting to identify you.

Our hosting provider records standard technical request logs — IP address, browser user agent, timestamp, and the page requested — for security, abuse prevention, and reliability. We do not use these logs to build a profile of any individual.

Typefaces on this site are served by Google Fonts, which means your browser makes a request to Google's servers when a page loads. That request is subject to Google's own privacy practices.

How we use it

  • To answer your enquiry and tell you candidly whether we can help.
  • To perform the work you engage us for, including research, analysis, and preparing a written report.
  • To communicate with you about a matter in progress.
  • To keep the records that a professional engagement requires, including the file behind any appraisal we issue.
  • To meet legal, tax, and regulatory obligations.

We do not use your information to market unrelated services to you, and we do not add you to a mailing list because you once asked us a question.

Confidentiality of an engagement

Your matter is discussed with you and with no one else. We do not publish client names, vehicles, claim details, or outcomes as marketing material, and we do not use your car as an example in any form that could identify you or it.

A report we prepare is delivered to you first. It is yours. We do not forward an appraisal to an insurer, an attorney, a dealer, or any other party unless you direct us to, or unless we are compelled by law or valid legal process.

When information is shared

We do not sell personal information, and we do not trade it for advertising value. Information leaves our hands only in these circumstances:

  • At your direction. When you ask us to send a report or documentation to a carrier, adjuster, attorney, lender, or counterparty.
  • To service providers. Limited vendors who make the practice function — email hosting, website hosting, file storage, and accounting — bound to handle the information only as needed to provide that service.
  • Where legally required. In response to a subpoena, court order, or other valid legal process, or where disclosure is necessary to establish or defend a legal claim.

Retention

Enquiries that do not become engagements are kept only as long as is useful to answer you, and are then discarded. Files behind issued appraisals are retained longer — a valuation may be examined, challenged, or relied upon years after it was written, and the evidence supporting it has to still exist when that happens. Where a matter has been in dispute or litigation, the file is kept until the relevant limitation periods have run.

Security

We apply reasonable safeguards to the material you send us and limit access to those who need it to do the work. No system is perfectly secure, and we will not claim otherwise. If you are sending something especially sensitive, say so and we will arrange an appropriate method rather than defaulting to email.

Your choices

You may ask us at any time to:

  • Tell you what information we hold about you.
  • Correct anything inaccurate.
  • Delete what we hold, subject to records we are required to retain for legal, professional, or dispute-related reasons.
  • Stop contacting you.

Write to us and we will respond. Depending on where you live, you may have additional statutory rights; we will honour them, and we will not treat you differently for exercising them.

Children

This site is intended for adults conducting business regarding a vehicle. We do not knowingly collect information from children.

Changes to this policy

If our practices change, this page changes with them, and the date at the top is updated. Material changes will be evident here rather than buried.
